Happy New Year!
Since the holidays are over and 2012 is coming to a close, resolutions are at the top of everyone’s priority list. This time of year encourages people to take a close look at not only our businesses, but personal lives as well. I have realized throughout the years, there is always room for improvement and ways to becoming more efficient. Below are just a few helpful tips:
1. The Basics – Just like any business, now is the perfect time to revisit our everyday policies and procedures to make sure they align with our goals in mind. I find that “getting back to the basics” of our daily operations gives you a clear understanding of how efficient your office really functions. Most often a simple change in the way we utilize our time can bring positive results. It also gives you the opportunity to focus on providing the best customer service for our clients, while setting and implementing new goals for the future.
2. Communication – Since the use of technology is constantly changing the way our businesses communicate, it is important to remember to set aside time to be “face to face” with our clients. Sometimes a casual lunch meeting can have a huge impact and improvement on your business relationships.
3. Review budgets – As many businesses are preparing for the end of year close out, a thorough review of your general ledger will give you a clear picture of what your expenditures were and where budget changes can be made. Items that were once a necessity may have changed throughout the year and may have become extra weight. Careful planning and a little scrutiny can go a long way to a prosperous year.
